Loreo cancels 3D Lens in a Cap Digital project

Today I got an email from Loreo, a Chinese company specialising in lenses, saying they have decided to cancel their long awaited 3D Lens in a Cap Digital model 9008.

Loreo have had this project, which was a follow-up to their 3D Lens in a Cap, for quite some time. The 3D Lens in a Cap Digital was also launched last year, but due to technical difficulties in manufacturing taken back from the market.

"The production problems over the last year have always revolved around the inconsistent quality of the images produced by the lens. Naturally, when people purchase a lens of any kind, they expect it to take reasonably sharp pictures. We were always able to manufacture 9008 lenses which did this. Unfortunately, not all of them were like this, so we invested considerable resources in trying to make consistent lenses." Says Andrew Wu, Loreo. He continues saying the difficulties seems to be due to material choices not adapting well in different temperatures which causes blurred images.

A 3D Lens in a Cap is an extension lens for your digital SLR camera which acts as a beamsplitter. This means that light from what you want to take a photograph of is assembled by two lenses and diverted by mirrors onto the image chip of the SLR to form a single, side by side stereoscopic photograph.

We hope that Loreo, or someone else, will overcome the challenges Loreo has faced and successfully launch this product as it was ment to be.
