Fujifilm to release Finepix Real 3D in Europe
Written by Jørn Are Hatlelid, Saturday, 24 October 2009 00:00

Yes, you read right, Fujifilm has finally announced the release of their first stereo 3D camera "Finepix Real 3D W1" in Europe.

This has already been available in Japan some time, I know because I couldn't wait buying one from there on eBay. The German department of Fujifilm has announced the price to be 419,33€ + VAT. I will be back with a short review and maybe show you some of my 3D holiday shots from Egypt.

At the same time the 3D camera is released, Fujifilm also announces the immediate availability of their "Finepix real 3D V1 Viewer", which is their version of what we know from 3DInlife as a 3D Multimedia Player or 3D Photo Frame. 3 Names for a 3D viewing product.

That's not all; For those of you still clinging to those old-fashioned prints wondering how you can take the plunge into stereo 3D and still send a photo to grandma using snailmail, wait no longer. Finepix Real 3D Prints is here! Upload your stereoscopic 3D photos to http://www.fujifilmreal3d.com and order lenticular 3D prints sent to you from Japan for the price of €4.39 (152 x 102 mm) or €4.69 (179 x 127 mm) + shipping. I can't wait to try out a few of these myself.

Talking to 3DInlife at IFA earlier this autumn, they did not seem to worry about competition from Fujifilm although they already at that time had tested Fujifilms products. 3DInlife claims to be aiming more for the professional segment with their upcoming products which shall feature HD video, better optics and maybe more? It remains to see, but I think they do have big competition in Fujifilm.
