Hi!
My name is Jørn Are Hatlelid, and I am currently a full time developer for bMenu AS in Oslo, Norway. There I am responsible and main developer behind several of bMenus backend and frontend products. The bMenu AMG (Automatic Menu Generator) and bMenus integrated search are products I take pride in being a big part of. You can test it out at xxl.no, maxbo.no, lydogbilde.no and many more. My new baby is the bMobilized.com portal for converting your existing web site to its equivalent version for handheld devices. Before working for bMenu, I have also worked for a payment gateway company, a research institute and a world known IT consultant company.
Since I got aquainted with PHP, MySQL and Joomla! I have chosen to use this platform for many of my portal projecs, including bmenu.com, bmenu.no, compscicon.no and more that are soon to be released. I find Joomla!, PHP and MySQL very easy, and it has a huge fanbase with lots of code available for pick. That is why I have chosen to create CompSciCon.no, to contribute a little something back to the community that has given me so much. CompSciCon stands for Computer Science Consultant, and is also the name of my own company.
Although loving PHP, MySQL and Joomla! I am not a platform religious, and use often other technologies and programming languages when they seem fitting. I often choose C# when I need to make a desktop application or a server side algorithm. Did you know you can copy the binaries of a C# program and run them directly on Linux with mono installed?
Currently I am working a lot with the above mentioned technologies, but my final year of my masters of computer science at the university in Australia (2003) I actually spent researching image analysis in combination with stereo 3D. Image analysis first caught my attention at a class I did during my bachelor in computer engineering, and I've been facinated by stereoscopy since I first saw a 3D movie starring Michael Jackson in Euro Disney back in 1994. It is due to this facination I have decided to put up a separate section for stereo 3D on compscicon.no where I every now and then put out an article or a review on something up and coming within this genre.
That's the short story of the work/hobby related side of me.
